Moose Comfortable Vacations Rentals is a Hidden Treasure waiting for you to discover. You can relax in luxury and begin your Alaskan adventure.
Our home is located in Palmer, Alaska. Palmer is a small community town, populated by colonists in the 1930s, with a lot of history that is still remembered and celebrated with Colony Day events in June and December. Combine the small community atmosphere with the breathtaking beauty of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley surrounded by mountains; add the long days of summer that produce the most extraordinary flowers and vegetables highly admired at the Alaska State Fair in late August; and top it off with all the fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, snow machining, cross-country skiing, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing in your front and back yard. We have been blessed to have found our small piece of the Last Frontier.
Moose Comfortable Vacation Rentals is located on over 3 acres of Alaska wilderness, surrounded by spectacular panoramic views of the Chugach Mountain Range, Pioneer Peak, and the Knik Glacier. Canoe Lake (stocked with fish) is within walking distance and just a bit further is the Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area that includes miles of well-maintained and marked wilderness trails that weave among 13 lakes with stunning mountain views along the way. We border the Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge, which is rich with wildlife, moose, wolf, beaver, salmon streams, nesting eagles along with other birds of prey, waterfowl, and migratory birds. Yet, just a few miles away you will find great restaurants, fun shopping, emergency clinics, and a hospital. And the city of Anchorage, with all its attractions, is only 35 miles away.
We came from the deep South, so southern hospitality is a part of who we are. Like other young couples, we came to Alaska seeking an adventure, reared our family, and now enjoy retirement and our grandchildren. I (Johnnie) retired after a 42-year career with MEA, the local electric cooperative. I (Donna) worked as Administrative Director of Palmer Senior Citizens Center which I and many amazing seniors established in 1980. Years later I managed an adult day care program for the frail and elderly in my home-based business for 15 years. Now we are ready for our next adventure, sharing our home and hosting families so others can enjoy their own Alaskan adventure.
Sincerely,
Johnnie and Donna Davis
